1985-1996
Since the earliest I can remember through to late in my childhood, early teens, I was facinated by powerlines, boom gates, elevators, traffic signals and escallators.
I probably have an unusual interest today too, although not nearly as overt as it was back then.
I used to use that continuous feed computer paper - the sort with the holes down both sides. I would sit and draw for an hour or more at a time, long lines of wires, insulators and poles on endless reams of paper. Many people thought I was strange. That may well have included my parents.
2005
Before leaving for Melbourne I worked 3 days to produce a scale model of one of the props from my favorite science-fiction television show, Doctor Who. The model is of the Tardis, otherwise known as a police box by earth people.

2006
Outside of work I began to explore my creative side again, in Melbourne. I purchased a digital camera (midrange, 5 megapixel at the time, not SLR or anything special like that.)
Needless to say, nothing remarkable came of it. But I produced some nice desktop wallpaper!

...and some interesting pictures...
That set reminds me of a map, or an aerial view of flooded terain. The subject is a peeling rendered concrete wall.
The last one there makes me think of the surface of an alien moon, or a wicked face.
2007
In 2007 I returned to an earlier theme from my childhood, powerlines.

2009
Around the beginning of 2009 I began a 10-day-long project to create a replica model of one of the funery statues found in the tomb of the ancient egyptian king, Tutankhamun. The statue is a depiction of Anubis, the ancient egyptian god of embalming and the afterlife.
Today the replica sits in my lounge room, glaring at visitors who dare sit beside it on the couch.
